Got a Gallery in the Wild
There is an internet term called a “meme.”
It is something similar to a trend or a recurring joke.
It is not limited to a specific language; it can be an image, a video, or even a real person.
It is somewhat like an emoticon, but much more entertaining for those who understand the reference.
And considering that the gallery was basically the internet, it also had its own memes.
From images used for all kinds of jokes to videos.
Even the “bombings” one occasionally encountered while browsing the gallery could be considered a type of meme.
Title) Who is Wi Hochang?
WildGrills
(Video of Lackey answering, “Wi Hochang”)
I asked Lackey who taught him how to speak and martial arts.
That was the answer he gave me.
According to HeavenlyDemon, he was the Blood Demon. Can anyone explain the details?
└ Swordmaster: You mentioned that name…
└ Swordmaster: They’ll be here soon.
└ WildGrills: Who?
└ Why the hell are you asking about that bastard?
└ Wi Hochang is still alive!!!
└ Wi!
└ Ho!
└ Chang!
└ Ah, shit. The Blood Sect people caught the scent of this topic and showed up.
└ Seriously, if you don’t want the comments to become weird, delete this quickly.
└ WildGrills: What is wrong with all of you…?
└ Wi!
└ Ho!
└ Chang!
└ Glory to Wi Hochang!
└ The Blood Sect has not fallen yet!
└ Wryyyyyyy!!!
Among all the memes in the gallery, there was one that was particularly problematic.
And it was Wi Hochang.
The moment I asked who he was, an avalanche of strange comments appeared out of nowhere.
It was so excessive that it was difficult to find genuine answers among all of it.
‘What the hell is going on?’
Who exactly was Wi Hochang to provoke such a reaction?
I kept scrolling through the comment section infested with spam.
I wanted a real answer.
Fortunately, it wasn’t completely overrun.
Among the chaos, normal comments still appeared.
└ SmartMind: Wi Hochang was the main person responsible for the Righteous Blood War. Do you know what that was?
└ WildGrills: No. I have no idea.
└ SmartMind: Think of it as a nationwide civil war. Do you know about the Orthodox Faction, the Unorthodox Faction, the Demonic Cult, and the Blood Sect?
└ WildGrills: More or less, but not in detail. Could you explain only the part related to the Blood Sect?
└ Wi!
└ SmartMind: They were completely insane. The only thing they cared about was killing people. And the worst of them all was the Blood Demon.
└ Ho!
└ WildGrills: How bad was he?
└ Chang!
└ SmartMind: If someone annoyed him even a little, he would make their head explode. And he was so strong that even the great masters couldn’t stand against him.
└ Wi!
└ WildGrills: And that’s why the Righteous Blood War happened?
└ Ho!
└ SmartMind: Yes, but the Blood Demon was absurdly powerful. The war happened because the Orthodox and Unorthodox Factions had to join forces to fight him.
└ Chang!
Even though those strange chants kept appearing in between, I managed to learn the story.
The reason Wi Hochang earned the title of Blood Demon was because of a massacre.
For some reason, he harbored extreme hatred toward a certain ethnic group and carried out a large-scale slaughter.
It was also natural that followers gathered around him.
They were simply people attracted by his immense power.
└ SmartMind: But as I said before, even if you were one of his people, if you annoyed him, he’d blow your head off. Boom!
└ WildGrills: Sounds like someone who never had any friends.
└ How dare you doubt the great Wi Hochang!
└ You shall be punished by the heavens!
└ WildGrills: Damn it, the Forest of Four Seasons is already enough heavenly punishment, so shut up.
└ Hmm. He has a point.
└ He’s already suffering heavenly punishment. No need to interfere.
└ Huff. Smells like martial arts old-timers…
└ Is there seriously no way to get rid of those people? Hahaha.
└ According to the moderator, no matter how many times they get banned, they always come back like cockroaches.
After hearing the whole story, I understood why Wi Hochang had become a meme within the gallery.
The reason was simple.
Nobody had confirmed his death during the Righteous Blood War.
There were people convinced that he was still alive.
And those very individuals had infiltrated the gallery.
The Blood Sect already had a terrible reputation, but the bizarre memes had made it even worse.
Though, considering it was an organization obsessed with killing people, that wasn’t exactly surprising.
└ Because of the Righteous Blood War, many masters from both the Orthodox and Unorthodox Factions died. That’s why the overall level dropped so much. It’s not like HeavenlyDemon defeated just anyone.
└ What about the army? Wasn’t it still intact? I heard they even beheaded the emperor.
└ There were organizations connected to the government, but they were destroyed too.
└ That doesn’t change the fact that HeavenlyDemon was a monster.
└ Back then, wasn’t the title Blood Flower Yaksha more famous than HeavenlyDemon?
└ Yeah. That’s why there were even rumors that she was the Blood Demon’s secret daughter.
└ Come to think of it, weren’t that albino gorilla’s palms red?
└ Wi Hochang’s palms were red too. That’s why they called him the Blood-Hand Tyrant King.
└ Could it be that Wi Hochang really escaped into the Forest of Four Seasons?
└ If he escaped there, what would he be doing now? Is he already dead?
If the west had the Immortal King, the east had Wi Hochang.
And while the Immortal King had sent his own brother into the Forest of Four Seasons, it seemed that Wi Hochang had entered personally.
Of course, I didn’t know whether any of that was true.
After all, I was only basing it on Lackey’s answer.
I needed to investigate further.
Fortunately, one of the questions on the questionnaire was about exactly that.
“Lackey. Answer this one too.”
“…….”
Lackey narrowed his eyes, just as he had done before, and looked at the questionnaire.
The question was where that person was currently located.
After reading it, he answered, and I once again asked HeavenlyDemon to translate.
[HeavenlyDemon: He says he left the troop when he was young, so he doesn’t know.]
[WildGrills: I see.]
So there was a reason why the Sloth hadn’t recognized him.
With such a distinctive appearance, it was impossible that he had simply forgotten.
“@$@%& %@#!”
Perhaps because he was talking about someone he knew.
Or perhaps because it was an important memory for him.
Lackey started telling all kinds of stories without me even asking.
Naturally, they were in the Central Continent language, so I couldn’t understand a thing.
Once again, I had to rely on HeavenlyDemon for translation.
[HeavenlyDemon: He says that person was the only one who cared for him when he was being discriminated against within the troop. He also says that he continued teaching him until the day he left the gorillas.]
[WildGrills: But wasn’t the Blood Demon a bad person?]
[HeavenlyDemon: He was. But perhaps he was lenient toward beasts. The world is full of beings worse than the animals themselves.]
That was quite an accurate observation.
Reality was full of people worse than beasts.
In fact, because they possessed superior intelligence, many committed even greater atrocities.
As I listened to Lackey’s story, I couldn’t help but think about the Blood Demon.
‘But he was still a criminal, wasn’t he?’
Although that was an era where self-defense had broad limits, Blood Demon had gone far beyond them.
He had become a meme now, but he was still someone who had killed people for fun.
At least there was one reassuring thing.
The chances of him still being alive were extremely low.
If he were still alive, the Gorilla Chief would have reported it already.
And sooner or later, he would have ended up meeting me.
‘According to what they said, the Righteous Blood War happened about fifty years ago…’
When Blood Demon, Wi Hochang, was last seen, he was around fifty years old.
That meant he would already be well over a hundred.
Even a natural death would be perfectly reasonable at that age.
Of course, if he really was that monstrously strong, surviving in the Forest of Four Seasons would not have been impossible for him.
‘No. Wait a minute. That would mean that even someone like him couldn’t escape this place.’
I didn’t know whether he had been unable to escape or had simply chosen to stay.
But the first possibility seemed more likely.
According to several comments in the gallery, Blood Demon had an enormous amount of pride.
Would someone like that live among ordinary gorillas, teaching them language, writing, and even martial arts?
There was something strange about the whole story.
Of course, to find out, I would need to discover traces of him.
And the Gorilla Chief most likely had some clues.
‘Then those clothes the Gorilla Chief was wearing must have belonged to Blood Demon.’
Little by little, some pieces were starting to fit together.
But there were still far too many unknowns.
Had he changed after entering the Forest of Four Seasons?
Or had he accepted his fate after realizing escape was impossible?
I still had no answers.
But I could investigate that later.
What mattered now was gathering information about Blood Demon.
└ WildGrills: In terms of cultivation levels, how strong was Blood Demon?
└ From what I heard, he reached the Profound Realm. Something like a Grand Master.
└ If it was the Profound Realm, then it was the Profound Realm. What’s with calling it a Grand Master?
└ It’s practically the same thing. People just call it Grand Master for convenience.
└ And how strong was he?
└ Imagine someone capable of turning heaven and earth upside down.
└ HeavenlyDemon: This lady has also reached the Profound Realm. Demons call it the Realm of Transcending the Demon.
└ Swordmaster: Yeah, yeah, sure. I could reach it too. I’m just too lazy to do it.
It seemed that Blood Demon wasn’t simply monstrously strong.
He was absurdly strong.
And yet, even someone like that had failed to leave the Forest of Four Seasons.
Perhaps the injuries he suffered during the Righteous Blood War had something to do with it.
Or perhaps there was another reason.
For now, I decided to set aside the topic of Blood Demon and move on to the next question.
‘This might be the most important one.’
There was one thing I really wanted to know.
Why had he attacked my great predecessor, Rice Craone?
According to Rice Craone’s diary, Lackey had attacked him, and that eventually led to his death.
I wanted to know whether he had inherited Blood Demon’s disastrous personality or if there had been some other reason.
Because if he had killed him simply for fun…
Honestly, I would probably execute him on the spot.
Unless there was a legitimate reason, murder was something difficult to tolerate.
“…”
After reading the question, Lackey frowned deeply.
He even snorted in disdain.
That reaction only made me more curious to hear the answer.
Finally, he spoke.
And once again, I had to ask HeavenlyDemon to translate.
[HeavenlyDemon: He says that person previously stole prey that he had hunted.]
[WildGrills: …]
Thanks to that, I was able to understand the situation.
The truth was that theft was difficult to forgive.
And in Lackey’s case, it was even worse because his poor eyesight made it difficult for him to chase after anyone who stole from him.
‘Though would it be possible to make glasses for an albino?’
The idea suddenly appeared in my mind.
Wasn’t there some way to improve his vision?
Someone might think that would be bad for me.
But in reality, it was the opposite.
If I wanted to avoid workplace accidents while working, glasses were practically mandatory.
And if it improved our relationship, even better.
Whether we liked it or not, we were going to be living together for quite a long time.
The least I could do was make life a little easier for him.
Title) Is there some kind of glasses for people with very poor eyesight?
WildGrills
(Video of Lackey frowning every time he tries to read)
He’s an albino and has very poor eyesight.
I want to get him some glasses.
Does anyone have something suitable?
If so, I’ll give something in return within my means.
└ HeavenlyDemon: One of my subordinates wears glasses from time to time. If you want, I can give you those.
└ WildGrills: I couldn’t possibly let you do something like that…
└ Swordmaster: Mana users normally don’t suffer from vision problems. How curious. Could it be that he doesn’t know any techniques to strengthen his eyesight?
└ WildGrills: He was born with the problem.
└ Swordmaster: Ah. Then it won’t work. It would be like restoring sight to a blind person.
└ WildGrills: Don’t you happen to have a spare pair of glasses?
└ Swordmaster: My vision is well above 9.0.
└ What the hell does 9.0 even mean…?
└ WildGrills: Wow. You really do have hawk eyes. Can you see ants walking on the ground too?
└ Swordmaster: And why would I want to see ants? Hahaha.
└ SunForEver: I have something that might work. Do you want it?
└ WildGrills: If you have something, I’d love it. Do you have eyesight problems too?
└ SunForEver: No. They’re just a fashion accessory. But people with poor eyesight can use them too.
└ WildGrills: Thank you very much. Do you need anything in return?
└ SunForEver: No. This is very cheap anyway.
└ Aren’t glasses pretty expensive?
└ The frame isn’t that expensive, but the lenses cost a fortune. After all, they’re made by a craftsman.
└ He really does seem rich.
└ DwarfPassingBy: More than glasses, you should put some clothes on him. It’s embarrassing seeing him like that.
└ WildGrills: Why would I need to dress a gorilla?
└ DemonPrincess: Does he happen to need a Chayu uniform?
└ This crazy girl is already trying to recruit another one hahaha.
└ After Wonmo and the Sloth, now she wants Lackey too hahaha.
└ Though honestly, considering the color of his fur, he really should wear clothes.
└ Yeah. That white fur stands out way too much.
Besides glasses, several people suggested that I should dress him.
And they were right.
His white fur was a huge disadvantage when it came to survival.
He possessed the strength necessary to compensate for it, but it was currently sealed by the inhibitor.
For now, it would be better to give him the glasses.
The clothes could wait.
‘They look like old-fashioned glasses.’
The glasses I received from SunForEver had a classic design.
Round frames.
And a bridge shaped like an inverted V.
In a world where plastic didn’t exist, that was probably the standard design.
“Lackey. Put these on.”
“…”
When I handed him the glasses, Lackey reacted with obvious suspicion.
It was understandable.
After all, he was wearing an inhibitor.
But this time, it really was a gift meant for him.
I gestured for him to take them.
Eventually, he accepted them reluctantly.
“…Uo?”
He put on the glasses while still looking suspicious.
However, that suspicion didn’t take long to turn into surprise.
“Uo? Uoooo!”
And the surprise soon transformed into admiration.
“OOOOOO!!!”
As if he had just discovered a completely new world, he reacted dramatically.
From then on, he kept taking the glasses off and putting them back on.
His eyes sparkled.
The usual ferocity in his expression vanished completely.
Even his lips formed a small O of amazement.
He looked like a completely normal primate.
“Ooooo…!”
With the glasses on, he started walking.
And slowly made his way into the forest.
I watched his retreating back with a satisfied smile.
“…Wait.”
Where the hell does he think he’s going?
