Chapter 2
As I lay dying, I saw Bai Man standing in front of the swamp.
On her hand, she wore Shen Jing’s wolf head ring, a symbol of status and power in Myanmar.
The meaning was clear: Shen Jing did everything for her.
Even our relationship was just an act.
I closed my eyes, thinking that if I died here, maybe I could return to my original world.
But then I saw Bai Man pick up my sketchbook and burn it.
Inside were the comic manuscripts about this world.
Bai Man curled her lips, “Have a good trip, don’t let the door hit you on the way out.”
I couldn’t go back.
When I woke up again,
I smelled the strong, heavy scent of medicine throughout the room, making me want to vomit.
But I didn’t even have the strength to throw up.
I tried to sit up, but someone pressed down on my shoulder.
It was Bai Qing and Fu Jing.
They were also the male and female protagonists in my comic.
Bai Qing used a handkerchief to wipe the sweat from my forehead, “Don’t move, you’re badly injured.”
Fu Jing bent down and entered from outside the thatched hut.
He was holding a pile of medicine.
Bai Qing, being a doctor, skillfully took a syringe and added medicine to my IV drip.
“This is an anti-infection medicine. Your abdominal wound is infected.”
I moved slightly, and a sharp pain shot through me, drenching my back in sweat.
I gritted my teeth, “My sketchbook… my comic manuscript, I need to revise the ending…”
Fu Jing crossed his arms, “It’s already destroyed. Everything drawn in it is gone.”
This meant that this place would be shrouded in Shen Jing’s dark forces, with no light to be seen.
