Chapter 22
Now it was my turn to be surprised.
I said, “No, no need, I can just take the bus, it’s only a few stops.”
He nodded, “Didn’t you hear what the teacher said today?”
I fell silent.
The teacher had indeed urged us to have our parents pick us up after school whenever possible.
I heard a girl from the lower grades had gone missing after getting off the bus.
Chen Xing wouldn’t have mentioned it if it weren’t true, and once he did, I started to get creeped out.
“Besides, we’re heading in the same direction, it’s no trouble at all,” he explained.
I thought about it, and he had a point.
Just then, I got a text from Chen Qiao: “I’m heading straight to tutoring. Mengmeng, just let my brother take you home~ (emoji)”
Good grief, that was a little too obvious, wasn’t it?
After Chen Xing and I got on the bus, a swarm of students surged in behind us.
I was squeezed so hard I almost had to stand on my tiptoes, clutching my skirt.
The back door opened, and it seemed like a few more students piled on.
Just as I found my footing, the driver slammed on the brakes. Chen Xing couldn’t hold onto me, and I lunged forward, grabbing onto someone’s waist behind me.
The scent of sweet oranges mixed with a hint of minty cigarette smoke.
I felt a sense of dread, looked up, and locked eyes with a pair of black pupils.
Damn it, why is it Lu Xiao again?
