My Life is Not Yours to Control Chapter 1

Chapter 1

I woke up with a start in the middle of the night, drenched in cold sweat, clutching my rapidly beating heart as I stared at the man sleeping beside me.

I never imagined I’d be reborn, sent back to a week before my death.

I clearly remembered the day I died: the massive impact, the roar of the flames, the cold operating table…

But none of that compared to the despair in my heart.

It was my four-year anniversary with Zeng Yicheng. A friend had secretly told me he’d booked a famous couple’s restaurant and even seen him buy a diamond ring.

My heart was full of sweet anticipation for his proposal. I arrived early, wanting to surprise him.

But I had no idea that was the beginning of my nightmare.

I watched with my own eyes as he gently kissed another woman and put a ring on her finger.

It was his first love, Ning Kexin.

I watched them embrace and head into a hotel, while on my phone, Zeng Yicheng’s apologetic voice said, “Working overtime tonight, won’t be back.”

Devastated and driving, my vision blurred with tears. One moment of distraction, and I drove straight under a semi-trailer.

The night they rekindled their sweet romance, I died on a cold operating table.

I turned to look at Zeng Yicheng. This was the man I’d loved my entire youth. He was still so handsome and dashing, but all I felt was utter disillusionment.

I didn’t sleep a wink all night.

The next morning, before Zeng Yicheng left, he tried to give me his usual good morning kiss, but I dodged it.

“Let’s break up.” As I said those words, I suddenly felt a sense of relief.

A flicker of surprise crossed Zeng Yicheng’s face, then he calmly asked, “Why so sudden? What happened?”

He looked at me searchingly, but his phone kept ringing persistently, again and again. I glimpsed the name on the screen: Xinxin.

He squeezed my shoulder, told me to wait until he got back to talk, then hurried out.

Without a trace of hesitation, I packed all my luggage and returned to my luxury apartment.

I didn’t regret loving Zeng Yicheng; he was all my youthful flutters and my entire youth.

But from now on, I wouldn’t love him anymore.

I would dig him out of my heart, little by little.
