The next day.

I hadn’t slept a wink all night. When Tuotuo opened his eyes and saw me, he was startled.

I knew he was shocked, but he didn’t say anything.

He turned his head to look at the window. The curtains weren’t drawn tight, leaving a narrow gap.

A sliver of sunlight leaked through the gap.

It hit my face perfectly.

The heat stung my skin, so I turned my head away.

Tuotuo hopped off the bed and ran over with a thud-thud-thud to pull the curtains shut.

I asked him, “Do you want Daddy to take you to the amusement park?”

Tuotuo thought about it seriously.

“I want Mommy and Daddy to take me to the amusement park together.”

Seeing me hesitate, he asked again:

“Mommy, why don’t you want to see Daddy?”
