Chapter 51
After I fell asleep that night.
In the middle of the night, I felt someone gently stroking my face.
I opened my eyes; it was Jin Lan.
In the darkness, his fingertips felt warm, and I couldn’t help but flinch.
He seemed to realize something, too.
He pulled his hand back.
I asked him, “Are you hungry? I can make you a bowl of noodles.”
Afraid he might refuse, I added, “I’m actually a bit hungry myself.”
He nodded.
While I was in the kitchen, Jin Lan leaned against the doorway, arms crossed, watching me.
Even without turning around, I could feel the intensity of his gaze.
The water in the pot started to heat up, the temperature rising sharply, and I heard his footsteps draw closer.
In a panic, I started rambling:
“With Tuotuo going with you, I’ll finally be able to relax a bit.
“Once that’s settled, I’ll move to the seaside with my new boyfriend. It’ll be great.”
The footsteps came to an abrupt halt.
Jin Lan’s voice was ice-cold: “Mm, sounds great.”
