Chapter 02
I walked into the kitchen and dumped the half-cooked food in the pan and the porridge in the rice cooker straight into the trash can.
I came out and threw my hands up.
“Haohao, Auntie doesn’t have any energy today. I burned the food, so I’m not cooking today.”
“If your mom is hungry, she can go back to her room and make instant noodles.”
Haohao’s expression froze, and his brows furrowed tightly.
“But, Auntie Lu, didn’t you know my mom doesn’t eat instant noodles?”
He said this with a slightly blaming tone.
I tucked a strand of hair behind my ear and took a deep breath.
“Haohao, your mom has hands and feet. If she won’t eat instant noodles, she can come to the kitchen and cook for herself.”
“If she doesn’t want to cook, then you’ll just have to cook for her, assuming she can bear to watch you do it.”
“But I already promised my mom that I would take good care of her during this show’s recording.”
“It definitely won’t do for my mom to cook. I have to keep my word. I have to be a true man.”
“But Auntie Lu, look at how small I am. I can’t even reach the stove. How can I cook?”
What?
What kind of twisted logic is this?
You want to keep your word, you want to be a real man, you want to be a good boy.
And that means I have to run around working tirelessly, serving the two of you like a maid?
So I’m just the giant sucker here?
I dropped the politeness.
“Haohao, the point of this show is for moms to take care of their own kids. They didn’t hire a dedicated nanny.”
“And no one said one family has to serve another.”
“You can go back and discuss it with your mom. If you can’t adapt, you can quit the show.”
“I’m already exhausted taking care of Dingbao. There’s no way I’m going to serve you two as well.”
Haohao looked utterly shocked, as if he had just heard something unbelievable.
“Auntie Lu, aren’t you the most hardworking and loving mom here?”
I was speechless.
Where the hell did this bizarre logic come from?
Because I’m hardworking, I have to do your chores?
Because I’m loving, I must serve you and your mom?
“Who told you that?”
“Did they also tell you that whenever there’s work to do, you should come find me to do it for you?”
Haohao pursed his lips and said nothing, putting on an “I’m the male lead baby, I need to act aloof” expression.
I knew for a fact his mom, Guo Jia, had told him this.
It was planned all along.
To boss me around as much as possible.
To make my son and I act as both servants and their foils.
I didn’t waste any more breath. I pointed.
“Little kid, the kitchen is right there. If you want to eat breakfast, please make it yourself!”
“Okay?”
Haohao instantly deflated. He fiddled with his fingers, staring at the kitchen in bewilderment.
Having said my piece, I ignored him, turned around, and shut the door.
To hell with the domineering CEO cute baby.
Whoever likes it can have it.
I’m not humoring them anymore.
