The River Gods Bridegroom Chapter 17

Chapter 17

Xie Yu: “Grandpa just fell asleep. I’ll take you to see him tomorrow.

“He can’t sleep at night these days, so it’s rare for him to finally drift off.”

My suspicion grew.

Rong Si once told me that the Xie family, generation after generation, from ancestors to descendants, all lived to a ripe old age, at least ninety if not a hundred.

By that calculation, his grandfather should have at least another ten years to live.

So, there must be something unclean in this house.

Xie Yu arranged a room for me near the corridor.

The room was fully equipped and very modern.

Xie Yu: “Get some rest early. I’ll take you to see Grandpa tomorrow.”

He turned to leave.

“Xie Yu,” I called out to him.

Xie Yu raised an eyebrow, looking down at me, huddled on the bed.

He looked questioning.

“Since I’m your fiancée, shouldn’t you be sleeping in the same room as me?”

It’s common for modern couples to live together before marriage; I’m aware of that much.

If we’re going to act, we should go all the way.

Xie Yu’s gaze seemed to be scrutinizing me.

Okay, fine, actually, I’m scared of ghosts, scared of other monsters coming to pick a fight with me.

Outside my territory, I’m a paper tiger, completely powerless.

The kind that can’t even beat a small ghost.

A typical coward who loves to play around.

After a moment, he turned and closed the door, then raised his wrist to unbutton his shirt.

I stammered: “Wh-wh-what are you doing?”

Xie Yu casually took off his shirt and tossed it aside.

The man’s face held an undisguised invitation: “Didn’t you want to sleep together?”
