Chapter 40
I was jolted awake by pain.
A searing pain in my ribs roused me from unconsciousness.
I struggled to my feet and found that Shen Jing and I had fallen onto a cliff ledge.
He was still unconscious.
His body was burning hot, like a branding iron.
I used every ounce of strength I had to drag him into a cave.
Shen Jing had a fever for three days and three nights, waking up a few times in between.
His leg was broken, so I found branches to splint it for him.
When he had a fever at night, I’d boil water to wipe him down.
At first, he instinctively resisted, but under my soothing, he quickly accepted it.
When Shen Jing was about to wake up, I took some water in my mouth and gave it to him mouth-to-mouth.
His Adam’s apple bobbed.
Suddenly, he reached out and pressed the back of my head, deepening the kiss.
After the kiss, he even licked my lips, looking as if he hadn’t had enough.
I pushed him away and sprang up, wiping my mouth furiously.
Shen Jing chuckled softly, “You’ve been taking such good care of me, doesn’t that mean you like me?
“Why such a big reaction to a kiss?”
I glared at him, “How big is your ego?”
He laughed again.
Those few days were probably the most Shen Jing had ever laughed in his life.
On the sixth day, I accidentally picked a wild fruit that made my whole body hot and my head dizzy after eating it.
Both of us fell victim to it.
Outside the cave, the rain poured down.
Inside the cave, all that could be heard was our rapid breathing.
What happened next was R-rated.
