His Secret

Before the sentencing, Kana’s father tried to use his connections to have her extradited back home for trial.

Kana wanted to see Lu Xiao one last time.

I accompanied Lu Xiao.

Through the glass, Kana glared at me with hateful eyes: “I won’t let you off.”

“It’s me who won’t let *you* off.” Lu Xiao spoke, pulling me behind him.

I felt my hand being held by his; his palm was warm and strong.

Lu Xiao: “I only came to see you to let you know one thing.”

“Monsters belong where monsters belong.”

Kana grew agitated: “Brother, why don’t you like me?!

“This woman isn’t even as pretty as I am! And she’s dated other people!”

Lu Xiao: “So what?

“No matter what she does, I trust her.”

“Besides,” Lu Xiao held my hand, wearing that confident, flamboyant smile I’d seen when I first met him.

“We both endured for so long just to deal with you.”

Kana was on the verge of breaking down. Finally, she slammed her hands against the visitation window in desperation and shrieked: “So what?! Have you forgotten I can read minds?! I can still hear your inner thoughts at any moment! Your future will still have me in it!”

Lu Xiao turned back.
