My Life is Not Yours to Control Chapter 4

Chapter 4

When I stood in front of Chu Ge’s motorcycle, I was still feeling a bit dazed.

How did I end up following him out here?

Chu Ge, the son of Uncle Chu, a close family friend. We grew up together. He had been a loose cannon since childhood, doing everything a typical rich playboy would do.

A few years ago—around the time I ran away from home chasing after Zeng Yicheng—he just went abroad to become a freelance photographer.

Over the years, I rarely heard news about him. At most, I’d receive a few photos he took, seeing which country he had visited recently or what scenery he had captured.

Occasionally, there would be some portrait shots where the faces were blurred.

Chu Ge patted the back seat of the motorcycle and casually tossed me a helmet. “Aren’t you getting on?”

I pointed at my high heels and evening gown. “Are you sure?”

“Tsk, so troublesome.” Chu Ge hopped off and directly unbuttoned his own jacket.

The next second, he reached over and wrapped his arms around my waist. The distance between us was close enough to make my heart race.

Startled, I couldn’t help but tilt my head up slightly, catching sight of the fine stubble on his chin. Chu Ge’s breath brushed against me—both unfamiliar and familiar.

I wasn’t the only one who had changed over the years; so had he.

He was more mature and more charming now.

Before I could push him away, Chu Ge swiftly tied his jacket around my waist. Then he stepped back a few paces, revealing an innocent smile. “Xiaoxiao, your waist is still as slim as ever.”

What mature, what charming, it was clearly just my illusion…

“Shut up!” I glared at him and obediently sat on the motorcycle.

Hanging out with Chu Ge was my parents’ idea. If it could put their minds at ease, I chose to comply.

The bike darted forward at breakneck speed. The wind continuously whipped past my neck. This sensation, akin to flying, instantly made me understand why some people are so enamored with this sport.

My heart involuntarily felt lighter too.

But gradually, I noticed something was wrong.

An almost instinctual panic surged up, soaking my limbs like freezing seawater. I couldn’t help but tremble slightly.

Without me realizing it, Chu Ge had driven the motorcycle close to the very spot where I’d had my fatal car crash.

Chu Ge finally stopped at the foot of a mountain nearby. We had merely passed that stretch of road.

Even so, it left me covered in a cold sweat.

We reached the top of the mountain. The view here was expansive, the stars mesmerizing and lovely, but he realized almost immediately that something was wrong with me.

His deep eyes looked at me, seemingly seeing right into my heart.

“Xiaoxiao, what’s wrong with you?”

I knew he wasn’t just asking about what was happening right now, or rather, not only about right now.

I suddenly felt an impulse.

This matter had been weighing on my heart for too long. If there was an outlet to confide in…

“I have a friend…”

I told Chu Ge the incident as if it were a story.

Chu Ge remained silent for a while, then suddenly asked me in a hoarse voice, “That friend of yours, what is she thinking? Has she ever thought about revenge?”

I nodded frankly. “She has.”

He suddenly smiled and reached out to ruffle my hair. “My Xiaoxiao hasn’t really changed. Still that same silly girl.”

I suddenly realized what was wrong. Chu Ge had already grabbed my hand. “Don’t be afraid. I’ll stay with you.”

“Since we were kids, you cleaned up so many of my messes. Now it’s my turn to repay you.”

At this moment, I gave up explaining. It seemed Chu Ge had known all along that Zeng Yicheng had betrayed me.
