Chapter 7
After saying that, I turned to leave, but my hand was tightly grabbed by Zeng Yicheng. I couldn’t break free.
At that moment, a forceful grip forcibly yanked his arm away. Chu Ge squeezed his way in and shielded me behind him.
I looked up at his back, an inexplicable sense of security settling in my heart.
“Be decent since you’re broken up, otherwise all the schemes this sister here meticulously set up will be for nothing. Wouldn’t she be heartbroken?”
“What do you mean?” Zeng Yicheng’s face turned incredibly ugly.
Chu Ge looked at them with a mock smile, threw a document onto Zeng Yicheng, and then spoke to Ning Kexin word by word.
“In the past, you looked down on Zeng Yicheng for being a poor boy, dumped him, and went abroad. Last year, your family went bankrupt, and you accidentally found out he had built a successful career, so you wanted to snatch him back.”
Ning Kexin’s face changed abruptly.
Chu Ge held my hand. “It doesn’t matter how shameless you guys want to be, but out of all the things in the world, you shouldn’t have made my Xiaoxiao this sad.”
I looked up in a daze. Was this what Chu Ge was busy with while he was away these past few days?
He looked at me, his eyes bright as stars. “It’s all sorted. Let’s go home.”
I squeezed his hand back and lifted the corners of my mouth. “Okay.”
Before leaving, I glanced back at Zeng Yicheng. He stood there stiffly, as if he had turned into a weathered statue, crumbling into dust inch by inch.
This time, Chu Ge gave me a ride and we passed by that stretch of road again, but I was no longer afraid.
It was only when he stopped that I realized this wasn’t my apartment; this was my family home.
The garden was decorated into a sea of lights with an abundance of roses. It was breathtakingly beautiful, the kind of scene every girl loves.
Chu Ge confessed his feelings to me. His parents and mine were all there.
I looked at him, unable to fathom how the mischievous kid from back then had grown into a man like this.
Before I could clearly figure out my feelings for him, I accidentally caught sight of my parents’ expectant expressions.
I nodded and agreed.
Chu Ge hugged me and spun me around several times until I laughingly swatted at him to put me down. After that, he packed his bags and moved into my apartment under the guise of “cultivating our relationship.”
It seemed pretty good this way too. Chu Ge and I grew up together, our families were well-matched, and we had our family’s blessing.
The previous project had come to a close. I didn’t follow up on it anymore, but my assistant reported that Zeng Yicheng’s company had won the bid.
I wasn’t surprised. Even though my father had helped him a lot, in all fairness, Zeng Yicheng was indeed excellent, with outstanding capabilities.
I directly took over the Ling Group’s charity department. For this campaign, my colleagues and I needed to go to a charity school deep in the mountains.
Chu Ge said he wanted to go location scouting and insisted on coming with me.
I couldn’t talk him out of it, so I agreed.
