Chapter 9
After shaking off Gu Xiaoyun, I felt completely relieved.
I no longer had to force topics of conversation, nor did I have to toss and turn at night over a single sentence he said.
Ever since that incident, Lin Wanwan had moved out of the dorm.
I heard her family was rich and bought her a small villa near the school.
I occasionally saw her come to class, but she skipped most of them.
Until one day, her name appeared on the scholarship recipient list.
And the scholarship was originally supposed to be mine.
My heart stopped for a second, thinking I had misread it.
After all, Lin Wanwan, who had failed almost all her classes, couldn’t possibly get a scholarship—and she had stolen my spot!
For the past couple of days, my mom had been busy with faculty affairs and had handed this matter over to a school executive.
Wait a minute.
I seemed to realize something.
I went looking for the executive in charge. Pushing the door open, I saw Lin Wanwan chatting with a middle-aged man.
I opened the voice recorder on my phone.
Executive: “Don’t worry, Wanwan. Your dad already gave me the heads up. She’s just a little girl, she won’t dare do anything!”
Executive: “She can forget about getting the scholarship this time!”
Lin Wanwan: “Thank you, Uncle.”
I held my books, my face dark.
They finally noticed me.
“Is it fun stealing other people’s scholarships?”
I questioned loudly.
The executive dashed over in a flash and slammed the door shut with a *bang*.
Even after being discovered, Lin Wanwan didn’t panic at all. She mocked,
“Song Wei, the Dean helped you last time, but nobody can help you this time!”
“My uncle is a school executive. Song Wei, believe it or not, I can make it impossible for you to survive in this school in a matter of minutes!”
She pointed right at my nose.
Her uncle put on an official tone: “Student Song Wei, the scholarship spots are based on rankings. If you have objections, go find the Dean. Don’t complain about unfairness here!”
Heh, singing the same tune. Truly a family!
“Fine, let’s go find the Dean and reason it out later. We’ll see if she believes you or me!”
I wasn’t afraid in the slightest!
But her uncle threatened me: “If a third person finds out about this, I cannot guarantee you’ll be able to graduate!”
Everyone knew perfectly well what Lin Wanwan’s grades were like. The fact that she got a scholarship was proof enough of corruption!
And now they were threatening me right to my face!
Lin Wanwan: “Uncle, she’s the girl who came to school carrying a snakeskin bag!”
Hearing this, her uncle became even more arrogant.
He treated my words with total disdain.
“I’ll just tell you the truth. We stole the spot! If you dare breathe a word of this, I’ll fucking destroy you!”
Heh, I sneered.
Good thing I was recording on my phone.
Otherwise, my mom wouldn’t even know there was trash like this in the school!
“Sure, destroy me. Let’s see who gets destroyed in the end—you or me!”
Lin Wanwan raised her hand, trying to slap me.
With quick reflexes, I blocked it and slapped her hard across the face.
*Smack.* Crisp and loud.
“You dare hit my niece! You broke bitch, do you have a fucking death wish!”
The man in front of me was furious.
He clenched his fists tightly.
Normally, I wouldn’t be afraid at all, but they had closed the door, and I was alone. I would definitely be at a disadvantage.
Her uncle charged at me. In the panic, I saw someone burst through the door.
A burly figure, a fiery temper, wearing a thick gold chain. He knocked the uncle to the ground with a single punch.
My dad, with a cigarette dangling from his lips.
“You dare hit my daughter? You’re the one with the fucking death wish, aren’t you?!”
I was shocked.
“Dad, what are you doing here!”
My dad’s voice boomed like a bell: “If Xiao Fei hadn’t told me, you would’ve gotten beaten up by this son of a bitch today!”
Xiao Fei was my bestie. I had indeed mentioned to her this morning that I was going to argue my case.
The two people on the floor huddled together in terror.
Their arrogant swagger from moments ago vanished completely.
My dad is a classic *nouveau riche*, and his thick gold chain nearly blinded my eyes.
My dad grabbed the guy by the collar.
“Who’s poor? You steal my daughter’s spot and then try to hit her! I don’t care who comes today, I’m going to ruin you!”
Lin Wanwan had never seen a scene like this and was shaking all over in fear!
The security guards arrived later, but even they couldn’t stop my dad.
Once his temper flared, only my mom could probably stop him. But coincidentally, my mom wasn’t there.
