Seven Days of Love
The shock of it kept me awake for days and nights.
That little bean on the ultrasound scan.
It was a child?
Zhang Mi asked me: “Is it Shen Qi’s?”
I didn’t say a word, still reeling from the fact that I was carrying a human being.
Zhang Mi didn’t know the full story and kept cursing: “Damn it, that bastard hasn’t been seen in ages, what kind of guy is he?”
I said: “It’s not his fault, I was the one who drove him away.”
Zhang Mi advised me: “Get rid of it. If you don’t plan on being with Shen Qi, there’s no way you can raise a child on your own.”
My head was pounding, so I rolled over and buried myself in the blankets.
“We’ll see.”
Zhang Mi: “Fine. At least Jin Lan was decent enough to leave you money and a house.
“If you get overwhelmed, remember to hire a nanny.”
I coughed: “Don’t tell Jin Lan about this.
“I have my pride.”
Zhang Mi shook her head with a sigh and left.
I touched the tiny, barely perceptible bump on my lower abdomen.
I had never liked children.
So why didn’t I have even the slightest urge to get rid of it?
This was truly terrifying.
