Chapter 31

Zhang Mi rushed over.

I even made a face at her when I first entered the delivery room.

Less than five minutes later, my screams were echoing throughout the entire ward.

After a few more minutes of screaming, I couldn’t even make a sound anymore.

It hurt too much.

My teeth chattered from the pain, and I gripped the bed rails so hard I felt like I could crush the iron bars with my bare hands the next second.

The gentle voice of another woman’s husband drifted over:

“You’re doing great, babe. Want some chocolate to keep your strength up?”

I remembered that I hadn’t even had a chance to eat dinner, and I had two packs of chocolate in my small bag.

I reached out, trembling, to grab the chocolate.

The nurse came over to check my dilation and opened the chocolate for me.

I took a bite.

Tears welled up and spilled over.

The nurse patted my shoulder: “Should I let your friend come in?”

I shook my head: “No… need to.”

I was afraid that seeing me like this would scare her.

Zhang Mi had just gotten married this year and was planning on having a baby soon.

Wave after wave of pain crashed over me.

It didn’t give me a second to catch my breath. As I drifted toward losing consciousness from the agony, I subconsciously dialed a number on my phone.

Jin Lan’s number.

“The number you have dialed is currently busy…”

He had blocked me a long, long time ago.
