Chapter 56
Jin Lan didn’t hear me; he was busy chatting with Tuotuo.
Once the wontons were served.
Jin Lan hadn’t planned on eating.
It was only after Tuotuo and I strongly insisted that he picked up his chopsticks.
After finishing the wontons, Tuotuo started to yawn.
Jin Lan’s phone kept ringing—it was Li Qiu.
I said: “It’s getting late, you should just take Tuotuo home.
“If Li Qiu is looking for you, tell her to meet you at home.
“Don’t leave Tuotuo alone at home; he’s afraid of the dark and will look for someone when he wakes up.”
Jin Lan looked at me as if he had a lot of questions.
“You’re not coming back with us?”
I smiled: “Yeah.
“After all, it’s not my home, is it?”
He opened his mouth, but didn’t say anything.
Tuotuo was lying in the backseat. I leaned over and gave him a gentle, careful kiss on the forehead.
“From now on, there will be a dad to love you in my place.”
Tuotuo’s eyelids fluttered, and he turned over to face the inside.
As I closed the car door.
I heard Tuotuo let out a soft, stifled sob that he couldn’t hold back.
