Chapter 62

The seventh day.

She was leaving.

She often drove Dad half-crazy.

Even though she was about to leave, she refused to tell him the truth.

After I finished my wontons, I got into the car early; I didn’t even dare to look at her.

I was afraid she would suddenly disappear right in front of me.

As long as she walked back to our old house, I could still feel like she would always be in that room.

I lay down on the back seat of the car.

She opened the door and got in.

Before she could even speak, I wanted to cry.

I squeezed my eyes shut tight, pretending to be asleep.

I felt her gentle kiss, like a puppy’s nose lightly touching my face; her nose was cold, but her breath still felt warm.

She said: “Be a good boy, Tuotuo.”

“From now on, there will be a dad to love you for me.”

The car door closed.

I couldn’t control myself anymore and burst into tears.
