Stumbling into a Trap Chapter 13

Chapter 13

My eyes were practically shooting fire as I screamed at him, “What gives you the right?! Why did you hit me?! My mom fainted because of her, and you’re hitting your own daughter for this wild woman?”

Qu Fang continued to clutch her stomach, whimpering endlessly. My dad stepped forward and gently helped her up.

“Stop this nonsense. This is your sister.”

What?!

This wasn’t my dad’s mistress, but his illegitimate child from the outside?

My dad actually… had an illegitimate daughter the same age as me?

I didn’t believe it!

Looking at Qu Fang’s smug face, I stood up furiously, pointed at her, and yelled at my dad, “You’re saying she’s my sister? Not your mistress? Is she pregnant? Do you want a son that badly?”

“Stop being so unreasonable! She is indeed your sister! Ask your mother if you don’t believe me! As for her baby, it’s useful to me. If you lay another hand on your own sister, I’ll cut off all your cards. Let’s see you survive out there on your own!”

I didn’t waste any more breath cursing. I turned and ran upstairs; I had too many questions to ask.

Pushing open the bedroom door, I heard the housekeeper’s low consolations and my mom’s weeping. My own eyes grew moist.

I just managed to call out, “Mom,” before bursting into tears.

From my mom’s account, I learned the whole truth.

Qu Fang really was my dad’s daughter. Right after having me, my mom found out he had a woman on the outside and that she’d had a child.

But for my sake, and for the sake of the family, my mom chose to endure it. Luckily, it was a girl, and my dad didn’t intend to do anything about it. My mom agreed to send the child far away and not pursue the matter further.

Who would have thought that after all this time, the child would find her own way back.

“She is pregnant. It’s the CEO of your dad’s investment firm. Now they treat her like an ancestor. There’s no way out for the two of us in this family anymore.”

The investment firm CEO—I’d met him. He was a sleazeball, about my dad’s age.

Qu Fang, truly disgusting.

No, I couldn’t accept this fate. I didn’t come back from abroad and do all of this just to end up with a bastard child winning. Whether she was a mistress or an illegitimate daughter, I absolutely wouldn’t let her off.

Clenching my fists, I told the housekeeper, “Take good care of my mom.”

Like the wind, I left the house again. I went to find Lin Ruijie. I didn’t have any friends in this country; I could only look for him.

He was panting on the other end of the phone, clearly exercising. But he was disabled, how could he still do all that?

I didn’t bother with small talk and cut straight to the point. “I don’t want Qu Fang to have it easy. Is there any way?”

After listening for a while, he replied, “So she’s not the mistress, she’s your sister?”

“What bullshit sister! I have no sister, I’m an only child.”

He caught his breath, and his deep voice came through. “The only reason your dad wants to acknowledge her again is because she’s profitable to him. If there’s no profit, then this daughter is even more expendable than you are.”

My eyes lit up. Right, whether it was the investor or my dad, it was all because of that belly. If Qu Fang lost the baby, let’s see how she’d strut around then.
