As soon as I reached my dorm floor, I saw Yang Qi standing by the door with her arms crossed, walking toward me with a dark, gloomy expression.

It really was you!

“Yang Zheng, you’ve got some nerve,” I could hear her grinding her teeth.

“It’s clearly you who’s been playing games,” I said, leaning against the wall, looking unbothered.

“Forget about you being too stingy to spend your own money; I already paved the way for you! Why didn’t you accept the scholarship? Why even turn down the class monitor position?”

I looked at the female lead, currently dressed like a total frump.

“I really appreciate the effort, Saint Yang Qi, but why waste your money paving a path for me? I recall you’re the one licking Shao Xuan’s boots, not me.”

Hearing me call her a “bootlicker” for Shao Xuan, Yang Qi immediately lost her composure, her voice turning sharp.

“You’re the bootlicker! Your whole family are bootlickers! Do you think I *want* to chase him? If it weren’t for the plot, would I ever look at a loser like that?”

Oh, wow, she’s mad. Too bad I forgot to hit record, I thought with a pang of regret.

Yang Qi quickly realized she’d lost her cool and lowered her voice.

“Let me tell you the truth: our world is a book. If it weren’t for the sake of the plot, I wouldn’t bother with a minor character like you who doesn’t even qualify as cannon fodder. I’m just helping you follow the script, so don’t flatter yourself.”

Helping me follow the script? Right. I hadn’t followed a single step of the original plot.

“Why should I follow that crappy script? Can’t I just be myself?”

Yang Qi let out a scoffing laugh.

“Hahaha, you actually think you can escape the plot? Let me tell you, if you don’t follow the script, something truly terrifying will happen in the end—an outcome no one could bear!”

I watched her expression closely; she seemed to be telling the truth.

Is there a gap in our understanding? I haven’t seen anything bad about breaking away from the plot at all.

“You talk about the plot, so what’s my ending supposed to be?” I asked.

“You… well, even though you took some detours due to impulsiveness, you eventually end up with Shao Xuan. He’s capable, and you two start a business together. Within a few years, you build a great life.”

Yang Qi said it with such sincerity. If I didn’t actually know the plot, I might have almost believed her.

I leaned against the wall, shaking my leg. “Sorry, but since you’ve dated Shao Xuan, I find him dirty. I refuse that ending.”

“You!”

“You’re ungrateful! I’m warning you, I know the plot, and I can tell it to you step by step. You’d better behave and follow the script from now on. It doesn’t matter if you want to court death, but don’t drag me down with you. Even if the plot gives you a happy ending, I can make sure you die a very ugly death!” Yang Qi finished viciously and turned to leave.

I stared at her retreating back for a long time in silence.
