Chapter 13
“Alright, Mom, bring it over.”
I brought the dress and jewelry back to the dorm with pride, even showing them to Li Xuefang and the others.
“This is the dress I’m wearing to the charity gala. Pretty, right?”
“It’s gorgeous! Zhengzheng, if you wear this, you’ll look so elegant and wealthy.”
Yang Qi’s eyes flickered as she smiled. “Zhengzheng, I heard Lu Ming, the CEO of Dingsheng, will be at the charity gala. He’s the son of the richest man in the neighboring city. If you dress this nicely, you’ll definitely catch his eye.”
“Of course,” I said with a meaningful smile.
Half a month flew by.
At the charity gala, my appearance drew compliments from the other host.
I calmly completed my tasks without any errors—mostly because the tasks weren’t that hard.
Lu Ming was every bit the CEO from Yang Qi’s plot; standing there, tall and imposing, he was handsome enough to put many celebrity idols to shame.
People kept coming up to toast him, but he mostly just raised his glass in acknowledgment without actually drinking.
I walked over and whispered, “Mr. Lu, I’m Yang Qi’s roommate. I’ve heard her mention you.”
Lu Ming nodded faintly. “It was Xiao Qi who highly recommended you for this.”
I put on a troubled expression. “Mr. Lu, there’s something I’d like to ask you to help Qi Qi with. It’s very important to her, but I’m just a student and don’t have much influence.”
Lu Ming raised an eyebrow. “Go on.”
I said indignantly, “Previously, Qi Qi was cyberbullied at school. The posts were anonymous, claiming she… had an improper relationship with someone from the outside world.
I know she didn’t, and she doesn’t care, but those anonymous abusers can bully her so wantonly without any consequences.
If this continues, won’t they become even more unscrupulous in the future?”
The CEO’s expression darkened upon hearing this, and he summoned his assistant to give a few low-voiced instructions.
Seeing my goal achieved, I walked away.
Knowing Yang Qi’s personality, even if she didn’t write the original anonymous post, she definitely left anonymous comments to stir the pot.
In the plot, although Yang Qi is obsessed with Shao Xuan, he’s a total scumbag who only valued her Beijing residency and her easy-to-control temperament. He was just using her as a backup.
Later, he even thought Yang Zheng was a wealthy heiress and bullied Yang Qi repeatedly to get close to her, eventually forcing Yang Qi to see his true colors.
Since she insists on following the plot, I’ll let the CEO see her true colors, too. Let’s see if she can still transition so easily from Shao Xuan to the CEO’s side.
