After the fundraising concluded, guests took their seats, and I sat at a table with the other staff.
As a waiter was serving, someone bumped into them, and the soup spilled onto my skirt. When the female host reached out to pull me up, she accidentally spilled the red wine in her hand all over me. She also inadvertently snapped the sparkling necklace around my neck. It fell to the ground and was stepped on several times, deforming the flowers on it.
The commotion instantly drew everyone’s attention.
I sat on the floor, disheveled, and reporters at the banquet snapped a few photos of me.
“My apologies, there was a bit of a mishap here. I’ll go change first.” I calmly got up, shook off the soup and red wine, and even joked, “Perhaps heaven thought the color of my dress was a bit plain today, so it asked everyone to help add some color.”
Many of the bigwigs looked on with admiration.
According to the plot, when Yang Zheng’s dress got dirty, she would have been utterly frantic and lost her composure, terrified of having to pay for it. If I had gone crazy just now, I would have become the laughingstock of the evening.
Good thing I was prepared and brought a white shirt and black pants. The hosting segment was already over, so wearing this wouldn’t be out of place.
In the changing room, I saw Yang Qi. She immediately linked my arm and said, “So, Zhengzheng, does CEO Lu favor you?”
I casually replied, “Doesn’t seem like it.”
She encouraged, “Work hard, perform well, and you’ll definitely win his favor. If that doesn’t work, you can always stake out his company entrance.”
Heh, “work hard.” In the plot, Yang Zheng was exactly this idiotic, obsessively pursuing Lu Ming, skipping studies to stake out his company entrance, scorned by Yang Qi, and made a complete fool of by the CEO.
“Sis needs to focus on her career first.” I wrapped the dirty dress and stuffed it into a plastic bag.
Yang Qi glimpsed it, and a triumphant smile played on her lips.
But that smile vanished after she took a phone call.
I had underestimated the CEO’s domineering nature. I thought he would investigate who posted the message, then sue that person, and then follow the clues to realize Yang Qi had slandered herself online.
Who knew, he simply had someone find the post, got professional tech personnel to hack into the school intranet, and invalidated all anonymous posts.
And so, a dramatic scene unfolded.
Yang Qi: “Isn’t this Yang Qi from Computer Science Class 1? So she likes older men.”
Yang Qi: “What an embarrassment to our school!”
Yang Qi: “Does she dress so tacky in bed too?”
Yang Qi: “Maybe rich guys just like that kind of thing!”
…
Good heavens, I was just like, good heavens!
I can’t believe this girl actually posted over a dozen comments cursing herself, and so viciously.
I wonder what the CEO’s expression is like now.
Will he give an evil, charming smile and say, “Woman, you actually tried to get my attention this way?”
“How could this happen!” Yang Qi shrieked, throwing her phone to the ground.
“Didn’t you accuse me of posting it?” I scrolled through my phone. “Tsk tsk, you actually have a habit of cursing yourself. Never noticed.”
She yelled at me in a breakdown, “What do you know! If we don’t follow the plot, the world will change drastically! Lu Ming was supposed to love me devotedly, wait for me, but now he’s already started with other women…”
Suddenly, she sobered up. “No, this won’t do, I need to go talk to him.”
Watching her leave in a frenzy, completely ignoring me, I immediately felt the world was peaceful again.
What she just said was quite strange though. Lu Ming didn’t wait for her as per the plot, but started seeing other women?
That really is a bit abnormal.
But what does that have to do with me? What I’m always thinking about is the investment for our first-place team.
