Chapter 6
I hadn’t even signed up, yet my name appeared on the ballot for class monitor.
The counselor asked everyone to vote, but didn’t announce the results on the spot. Instead, after we left, she announced in the class group chat that I had been elected.
The class exploded.
Immediately, someone sent a message: “I voted for Jiang Qianqian, not Yang Zheng.”
+1
+1
Soon, more than half of the thirty-five students in the class were replying that they hadn’t voted for me.
During military training, Jiang Qianqian and Wang Yan had been handling all the class duties, and the students really admired them.
This time, Wang Yan ran for Youth League Secretary, and Jiang Qianqian ran for class monitor.
Everyone assumed Jiang Qianqian would definitely win.
“Since it’s over half the class, how did Yang Zheng get elected?”
“This election isn’t legitimate!”
The voices of dissent grew louder and louder.
I was shocked to realize that all of this was almost identical to the original plot.
In the story, Yang Zheng set up a “wealthy heiress” persona in the group chat, fooling the teachers and students, and bribed the counselor to force her way into the monitor position. Yang Qi couldn’t stand it and spoke up for Jiang Qianqian, only to be targeted and harassed by the counselor.
But I hadn’t flaunted any wealth, nor had I bribed the counselor. Why would she risk violating the rules just to make me the monitor?
I quickly typed in the group chat: “Teacher, is there a mistake? I also think Jiang Qianqian should be the monitor.”
The counselor replied instantly: “The vote count is only one of the criteria for electing class officers, accounting for 50%. The other 50% is based on the teacher’s evaluation.”
“Please stop stirring up trouble and disrupting class order!”
The students fell silent. I was confused, but then Li Xuefang told me the counselor had muted the group chat, and I had been made the only admin, which was the only reason I could still post.
This really crossed the line and incited public anger.
Yang Qi, along with Jiang Qianqian and a few other girls from the dorm, stormed into my room, looking righteous. “Yang Zheng, the monitor position should be Qianqian’s. You shouldn’t have done this.”
“I didn’t do anything. I found out at the same time you all did,” I explained immediately.
A girl with short hair rushed forward and shoved me hard, causing me to slam into the table. “You didn’t do anything? Then why would the counselor help you become monitor?”
“Don’t you feel disgusted using such underhanded tactics?”
“Nepo baby! Get out of our class!”
The other girls were riled up by her, all looking at me with righteous indignation.
Jiang Qianqian looked at me, her eyes red and stubborn.
But I really didn’t do anything!
I felt so wronged. “I can go ask the counselor to clarify things tomorrow.”
Yang Qi sneered, “You and the counselor are in cahoots; you’re the only two who can talk in the group chat. What else is there to clarify?”
I looked at Yang Qi, suspecting she might be the one behind this.
But I didn’t know anything for sure, and I had no evidence. Even if I had a thousand mouths, I couldn’t explain this away.
