Chapter 13
In the days after being with Chu Ge, I was incredibly happy, as if I had returned to those carefree times. But I knew these carefree times weren’t without cost—Chu Ge had taken all the burdens for me.
I suddenly wanted to see what the grassland looked like in Rebecca’s mouth.
Having lived so many years in a routine manner, I wanted to let loose a little before resuming work.
Chu Ge immediately agreed to my request without hesitation, and even my mother couldn’t help but scold him for it.
We arrived at the airport, and when we were about to board, I suddenly noticed a suspicious figure.
A woman wearing sunglasses and a hat kept staring at us.
I thought she looked familiar, and when I was trying to figure out who she was, she suddenly rushed over. Just as she was about to approach us, she pulled out a knife from her bag.
In an instant, I recognized her—it was Ning Ke Xin!
Just as I thought she was going to attack me, she instead turned her steps and rushed toward Chu Ge.
“Go to hell! You ruined me—you don’t deserve to live either!”
I desperately watched as Chu Ge was stabbed. Only then did the security guards arrive and subdue Ning Ke Xin.
She continued to curse wildly. I trembled as I checked Chu Ge’s condition, patting him for a while but finding no injuries.
Chu Ge looked at me with a strange expression: “Stop patting. I’m fine.”
Seeing that I wasn’t stopping, he whispered, “If you pat more, something bad will happen.”
I glared at him but felt relieved that he was joking, so he was really okay.
Chu Ge took out a box from his pocket, looking a bit awkward as he spoke, “I was originally going to…”
I opened the box to see the ring inside.
These were wedding rings, engraved with our names.
I suddenly smiled.
The plan to visit the grassland was postponed. I and Chu Ge went to the police station for interrogation.
I learned that after Ning Ke Xin exposed Yu Cheng, her father didn’t receive Yu Cheng’s financial support and fled with the remaining money. The creditors came after Ning Ke Xin, forcing her to take care of her father, which made her suffer greatly. She blamed everything on Chu Ge and wanted to take revenge on him.
Chu Ge held my hand as we left the police station.
“This is karma—good people get good, and bad people get bad. If she had asked for a loan properly, Yu Cheng might not have refused. But she chose these methods.”
I took out my phone: “There’s a flight to Africa in an hour…”
“Let’s go quickly. I can’t wait to start our little world with you!”
Chu Ge ran off with me.
