Chapter 54
Tuotuo and I stood against the door like we’d been caught doing something wrong.
Jin Lan reached up to undo two buttons on his collar and took a few sips of water. He glanced at the time on the wall: “It’s almost midnight. Where are you taking my son?”
I thought for a moment: “To get a late-night snack?”
He raised an eyebrow, his brow furrowing slightly.
I thought he was going to scold me again, but instead, he grabbed his coat:
“Let’s go.
“Eat, then come back and get some rest.”
Tuotuo and I cheered in unison.
Once we were in the car, Jin Lan started the engine, and we wove through the streets.
The night breeze was cool, and I rolled down the window to let it in.
Jin Lan’s phone started ringing at the same time.
He glanced at it but ignored it.
“Is that Li Qiu?” I thought for a moment, “Don’t think I’m trying to stir up trouble.”
“Jin Lan, don’t let her bully my son in the future.”
Jin Lan looked ahead, turning the steering wheel slightly, his expression unruffled.
“She’s not that kind of person.”
